The Spelke Lab is one of the labs within the Harvard Laboratory of Developmental Studies. We are located on the 11th Floor of William James Hall and on the 1st Floor of Vanserg Hall.
Our lab focuses on foundational questions in developmental psychology regarding what babies know and how they learn. In the diverse domains of objects, places, numbers, and agents human infants show signs of both prodigious knowledge and the ability to learn rapidly and flexibly. Our research probes the origins and growth of uniquely human cognitive capacities through primarily behavioral experiments and interdisciplinary collaborations with scientists from diverse fields.
